Restoration of historic monuments in Baustert

Construction period
2019-2020
Photographer
Olaf Steinebach
Project description

The construction of the building, which is a listed building, and the facade, the terrace cladding and the privacy screens were carried out using a selection of local hardwoods from Douglas and larch. The Thome House, formerly known as Jenn House, was named after its builder Jean Thome in 1827. During the renovation work in 2019-2020, great emphasis was placed on ecological materials. Clay plaster, clay-colored paints, natural wood cladding, natural stone and wooden floors. Many historical details, such as sandstone and old wooden beams, have been preserved, making the house a special piece of art.
